How to get USSF certified to become a soccer referee
If you live in Ohio visit Ohio South website and follow the steps to get USSF certified
If you live in Kentucky visit KY referee website and follow the steps to get USSF certified
Note: additional steps may be required in the state in which you register. The respective websites will outline all steps needed
Once you are certified - next steps
Purchase a uniform kit
Create an account in the game assignment system, click the link and follow the instructions
Each referee will setup their preferences and manage their calendar when they are available to work
Some games will be visible to view and request games.
Game assignments are sent to referees per their availability
Games scheduled on specific fields by the local clubs
Various leagues and competition levels of the games that are scheduled
Referee availability and experience
New referees are scheduled with experienced referees initially to learn the ropes
Send an email to assignors in the area you want to work games. Please include the following info
Area you are interested in working at OR specific game fields if known
Any experience playing or previous experience officiating
Recertification
Each referee will have to recertify each year. There are multiple components
Referee license for USSF - Us Learning center
Background check for anyone 18 years or older - expires after 2 yrs on the date when the background screening completed.
Safesport - expires each year on the date when you completed the course.
Intro to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments - expires each year on the date when you completed the course.
