Horizon Web Ref system

There is an app you can load to your smart phone.  **Some features may not be available in the phone app and vice versa

When you initially register for Horizon add a note for the state you are registered in.   This helps various assignors get the accounts approved more timely

Example: Registered USSF in Ohio or Registered USSF in KY

How to create a Horizon referee account, this is a multi step process and may take 5 days or longer

1. Referee requests access to the group.  

   • The referee's name and email must match the name and email used for the US Soccer account

2. The assignor approves the referee account once the US Soccer learning center is updated to show all requirements met.  The requirements are different for adults and minors.

   • If you have not completed all the steps in the US learning center you will be denied approval to the group. 

   • You will have to start over once you complete the requirements in the US learning center

3. The referee must login once the account is approved and complete their profile and update personal info with cell phone info, additional email info for parents and emergency contact etc.

Concussion certificate is a separate requirement for refs that want to ref select games due to Ohio state law.  Most select games are sanctioned in Ohio even though the field location is in KY.

The group does say Fairfield Ohio, Randy Clark - this is a shared system with many Ohio assignors

While you are creating the Horizon account and waiting for assignor approval send an email to the assignor to introduce yourself and include information to help the assignor get to know you and what your expectations/goals are for you specifically.  Please include details such as

• Your experience such as

  • • • Player experience

      • Coaching experience

      • Prior referee experience, age group, center ref vs AR etc

• Area you prefer to work at

  • • • if you want to stay close to home list the fields

      • If you don't mind to drive further away list the type of game

• Any other information you would like the assignor to know about you or your ability to get to games on time for game assignments, which is 30 min prior to kickoff time

  • • • Car pool scenarios with others.  

        • • • Be mindful this is a job and you are getting paid.  You can work with friends, but refs first starting off will be paired with experienced refs to learn the ropes

      • Other commitments that may impact your ability to ref at certain times

        • • • Family commitments, kids playing etc.

            • Work commitments on weekends, which 95% of games are on Sat and Sun each weekend

Games played in Ohio and Northern KY including local league and tournaments

    • KingsHammer games played in the various areas

      • Sycamore area

      • NKY area

    • GLC games played throughout Cincinnati are listed on OSSRC and if they are not filled will be listed in Horizon

    • Fusion and ISC select games play in NKY

    • NKSL recreational games played in NKY
